Along with veterinarians, humane societies provide a major source of education for pet owners and greatly assist in promoting responsible pet ownership. Most humane agencies offer valuable services to their communities by providing adoptions, spay and neuter clinics, and educational programs.

Because of this commitment, the American Pet Association supports our nation's humane agencies through donations and fundraising assistance.

All support to humane agencies from the APA is provided at no cost to the facility.  There are never any fees to collect, or long term records to keep.

The APA Adoption Stimulus Program was designed with many goals in mind and effectively addresses these goals in daily operation.

  • Supporting the adoption process
  • Supporting the humane agency
  • Supporting the humane agency staff
  • Reducing pet re-entry into humane facilities
  • Promoting responsible pet ownership
  • Benefiting the pet’s safety, care and happiness
  • Benefiting the pet owner
  • Can be used as a free replacement to costly licensing or rabies tag programs
  • Staff Support Fund - Cash donations from the APA to support the staff.
  • Humane Education Posters

Adoption Stimulus Program- The Adoption Stimulus Program can be utilized as a responsible pet ownership tool and to encourage adoptions by increasing the value of the adoption, or it can be used as a fund raising tool.

By utilizing current APA membership programs as fund-raisers, participating humane centers can raise significant funding, with no cost to them. 100% of generated funds is kept by the facility. Goal setting and strategy assistance can be provided as part of the fundraising package. A typical facility can realistically raise tens of thousands of dollars annually.

How the Adoption Stimulus program works...

Participating facilities include the Guardian to the standard adoption. This gives the adopting client a collar tag, far superior to those a pet owner would purchase, and is a better recovery tool than microchips or any other recovery tag or system.

(The Guardian is a solid stainless steel tag, not a plastic, brass or aluminum tag that quickly wears out. The Guardian is unquestionably the best tag recovery program available backed by the professional and knowledgeable APA Guardian Staff. For more information on the Guardian Programs, click here)

The Guardian program has a 99.7% recovery rate and is an effective tool in starting the pet owner off on the right tract and promoting responsible pet ownership.

By adding the Guardian to the adoption, you are increasing the value of the adoption, while better promoting responsible pet ownership!

Options:

  1. The facility can choose to add the Guardian to their adoption, without increasing the adoption price.

Increases the value of the adoption
                Reduces re-entry into the facility
                Promotes responsible pet ownership
Helps start the new pet owner off on the right track
Adoption Stimulus Program benefits, Staff Support Fund, Education Posters, and more.

  2. Choose to raise their adoption price to suit their needs and the needs of their clients.

Due to the increased value of the adoption, you can justify an increase in the adoption price.  Price can be raised from $1.00 to $22.95 per adoption.

Your facility keeps 100% of the collected fee

                Same benefits as above

No program costs, no up front fees.

The APA will provide you with as many complete membership packages as needed - at no cost to you, ever.

If chosen as a fund-raiser, A facility adopting out 1500 pets per year would produce the following income range;

  • $1,500.00 - $28,425.00 additional income per year (plus the additional benefits of the program)

There are no "ifs", "ands" or "buts" - this is actual income!

In addition - your facility will be listed as an additional contact on every adoptee's membership file. In the event that the pet is abused, abandoned or mistreated in any way you will be contacted to take proper action.
